Revived is the last painting I completed during a two-week artist residency in Summerville, South Carolina. I started this painting after waking up with a sudden urge to paint with blue, which one of my fellow residents said is a protective color. This painting emerged effortlessly and quickly, in a calm, embodied state of flow. I love how it’s emblematic of my go-to composition inspiration—looking up at light shining through tree leaves.
